Eight young Croydon athletes represented Surrey with distinction in an eight-sided U17 encounter at Stevenage.
At the Sunday Inter County event, Omari Carr-Miller won a thrilling 400m in 50.6 with two others hot on his heels. Cameron Smith won the B 200m in 22.6, a tenth slower than the A winner, and third-placed 100m hurdler Joe Yarde was a mere tenth adrift of the winner. Although Croydon were in the mix in the Under 13 and Under 15 age groups, it was a lack of Under 17’s that proved fatal as they finished 8th out of the eight competing clubs at Hendon.
