Several Croydon Harriers warmed up for this weekend’s Surrey Championships in Dorking by taking to the ParkRun circuit on New Year’s weekend.
Surrey prospect Omar Harhara (21:35) won the New Year’s Day Lloyd ParkRun, and 24 hours earlier Holly Haile (21:49) finished runner-up in the women’s race. Robert Spalding was the second under-14 boy home in 21:36. Ellie McCormack was the first under-14 girl at the Ashton Court ParkRun in Bristol, while training partner Josie Kavanagh enjoyed similar success at the Bushy ParkRun. Andy Del Nevo ran consecutively on New Year’s Eve and New Years Day at the Nonsuch ParkRun, finished eighth and ninth respectively in the 100 strong fields. At Roundshaw Downs, Norman Hemming was third M55 home in 24:02. Meanwhile at the Tadworth ten-mile event at Epsom Downs, Neil Aikman was 17th M40 and 65th overall, completing the undulating course in 70:39. Keith Brown (79:59) was 189th (19th M50) out of the 539 finishers. | |
