Katy in the high jump Sheldon Brown Omari Carr-Miller struck 400m gold at the SEAA Indoor championships at Lea Valley. Giacomo Spagnoli on debut for the club Iesha Hinds Although Croydon were in the mix in the Under 13 and Under 15 age groups, it was a lack of Under 17’s that proved fatal as they finished 8th out of the eight competing clubs at Hendon. There were still plenty of performances to be proud of for the Harriers however, with Cameron Smith bowing out of the young athletes ranks in impressive fashion with an 11.05secs clocking in the U17 100m for 2nd. Omari Carr-Millar also impressed over the U17 400m. Sheldon Brown and Javari Cameron were both 3rd in the U17 A & B long jump events, with Faraz Rafi being the pick of the throws with a 3rd place finish in the U17 discus. U15’s Femi Agbetoyin and Patrick Lucas continued their dominance in the 800m with 2nd and 1st places in the A and B races respectively. There were also lifetime bests for the U15 trio of Kartik Iyer (5:21.3), Andrew Statter (5:21.5) and Stevie Lawrence (5:23.4) in the 1500m, while there was also a personal best for U13 Josie Kavanagh in the 800m (3:01.5). The Harriers also showed significant strength in the 4x100m with a win in the U13 boy’s event, with a further four top three finishes in the other age groups. And the U15 quartet of Taiwo Kamoju, Patrick Lucas, Marvin Burke and Femi Agbetoyin rounded off the day nicely, by setting the fastest time in the UK this season for the 4x400m, storming to victory in 3:40. The four of them nervously await the official timings to see if it beats the longstanding club record set back in 1998.
